Adding Widgets to a Wix Site

Firesky widgets work on Wix sites, including sites built with Wix Harmony, the Wix Editor and Wix Studio. You add them with Wix's Embed code element.

Before you start

  • Your site needs to be published on its own domain (for example mychurch.org).
  • Add that domain in Dashboard → Settings → Allowed origins. Firesky checks your Wix site when you save it.

Add a widget

  1. In the Wix editor, open the page and add an Embed code element. Choose the option to enter your own HTML code.

  2. Paste the Firesky script and the widget tag together in that one box. For a Prayer Wall:

    html
    <script id="FireSkyWidgets" src="https://www.thefiresky.com/widgets.js"></script>
    <fs-prayer-wall></fs-prayer-wall>

Each widget's page in Dashboard → Widgets shows its tag.

  3. Make the box tall. Wix gives embedded code a fixed height, so anything that doesn't fit is cut off or scrolls inside the box. Drag the bottom edge down. A Prayer Wall or calendar needs more room than you'd expect.

  4. Publish, then open the page on your live site.

Why it doesn't load in the Wix editor

Wix runs embedded code inside its own frame, on a Wix web address (it ends in filesusr.com) instead of your domain. The first time a widget loads on your published site, Firesky checks your homepage, confirms the Wix address belongs to your site, and links it to your church. From then on it loads normally.

The Wix editor and preview don't give the widget a usable address, so there it shows "This section isn't set up on this website yet." That's expected. Check the published page instead.

Hidden and password-protected pages work too, as long as the site is published on your domain.

Still not loading?

Open the message on the widget and expand For site administrators. It shows the address the widget saw. Contact us with that address and the page's link, and we'll get it working.
